1. Register the religious marriage

2. Change the matrimonial property regime

What to do after the wedding? If at the celebration of the marriage they did not decide on the matrimonial property regime, it was understood that they opted for a marital partnership.

And it is that within thirty days after the celebration, they should present the respective marriage certificate issued by the Civil Registry to your employer .

4. Registering a marriage celebrated abroad

On the other hand, if you were married abroad, when you arrive in Chile you must register your marriage in order for it to be legally valid.

To do so, must have a marriage certificate issued by the authorities of the place where they were married; legalized if the country does not belong to the Hague Convention and apostilled if the country belongs to the Hague Convention.

In addition, if the original marriage certificate is in a language other than Spanish, an official translation of the certificate must be attached. If the translation comes from abroad, it must be legalized or apostilled, or it can also be requested from the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

With these documents, plus their valid identity cards, they should go to any office of the Civil Registry.
