The design world is full of proprietary concepts that help give precision and technical meaning to the work of these disciplines, and if you're not familiar with them, you can get lost when it comes to commissioning your parts.

Like everything in the bridal world, each item usually has a special meaning, from the wedding cake, which has very characteristic designs, to the wedding dress, which follows specific indications of the future bride. The same happens with the parties, which for many is the first clue of how the wedding decoration and the celebration itself will be.

Therefore, here is a guide with some of the most important concepts so that you know how to speak the same language with the designer or the printer.

Paper Concepts

  • Grammage: This is the thickness of the paper to be chosen, which is expressed in grams per square metre. Generally, for marriage parts the heaviest weights are used, around 200 grams. but various combinations can be used.
  • Opaline cardboard: It is thick and versatile, very popular in the manufacture of parts because of its availability. in many colours and in matt and glossy formats.
  • Bristol paper: One of the roles more sober and elegant is a smooth, generally white paper that is often used in the manufacture of parts.
  • Bamboo paper: Thick, soft and ecological paper, ideal for printing.
  • Corrugated paper: Paper with wrinkles and textures that give it a cardboard-like appearance.
  • Recycled paper: Role of rougher appearance available in various shades that is used to give texture to the part.
  • Handmade paper: Thick paper made with a delicate handmade technique, is smooth and very elegant. It can be used as a support to superimpose printed papers, as a frame.
  • Laminate: Application of transparent plastic by gluing or pressing on paper, and can be glossy or opaque.
  • Die-cutting: Type of blade cutting (usually automatic) that is used to print shapes and textures on the parts.

  • Typography or font: It is the typeface according to the stroke style or size. There are different types that relate to different styles Perhaps you can base it on the style of your wedding decorations and match it to the typography.
  • Alignment: It is the axis where they want the text to go: left, right, centered or mixed.
  • Calligraphy: It is the handwriting made by hand with ink and brush, and in it there is a wide diversity of styles.
  • Frills: These are the ornaments that accompany the calligraphic handwriting, and by analogy are also called as follows the ornamentation accompanying the text in print typography.
  • Reasons: These are the types of drawings and designs that are repeated in a wedding invitation or stationery project in general; one of the hallmarks of how the set looks. For this you can be inspired by a concept or by the same wedding arrangements you will have on your big day.

Not only in the dress or bridal hairstyle is based on the celebration and it is important to handle some concepts so as not to make mistakes, neither in the choice of wedding rings, nor in something simpler, but no less important as the invitations.
