1. The dance of the fireflies

Premiering in early February on Netflix, this series will keep you entertained and certainly looking forward to a second season. Based on the novel of the same name by Kristin Hannah, it tells the story of "Tully" and "Kate," two friends who have stuck together through thick and thin for more than 30 years, starring Katherine Heigl, Sarah Chalke and Ben Lawson.

2. WandaVision

If you love sci-fi, then you won't want to miss Disney+'s new sci-fi comedy based on the Marvel Comics characters "Wanda Maximoff" and "Vision," which premiered in January.

The events are set after the movie "Avengers: Endgame" and focus on the also called "Scarlet Witch" who, through a parallel world, tries to revive her partner, even if it causes a lot of trouble. With Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.

3. Lupin

Directly from France comes this mystery and suspense series, released by Netflix in January and inspired by the adventures of the famous character Arsène Lupin.

The film is about the gentlemanly thief "Assane Diop", who sets out to avenge his father for the injustices he suffered at the hands of a wealthy family, including a robbery he didn't commit that drove his father to suicide. With Omar Sy, Ludivine Sagnier and Clotilde Hesme.

2020 Releases

Although some of them were postponed, 2020 was a year full of series premieres, which meant a relief in the middle of the pandemic. A wide catalogue of productions for all tastes emerged, and among them, several of them were highlighted by international critics. From period dramas and romance, to post-apocalyptic series. Bridgerton

Entanglements and love come together in this Netflix production, inspired by the novels of Julia Quinn. The plot is set in Regency London and focuses, among other things, on how the eight siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family search for partners in a competitive, luxurious and seductive high society. 5. Queen's Gambit

Another of Netflix's most successful series in recent months is 'Lady Gambit', set in the 1950s and more akin to a psychological drama.

Fiction tells the story of a young girl from an orphanage who discovers she has an incredible gift for chess and travels the arduous road to fame while struggling with addictions, all in the midst of a male-dominated world, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Bill Camp and Marielle Heller.

6. Love life

If you're a couple, a conventional romantic comedy is always good for you. That's what this HBO Max production offers, which tells the love misadventures of "Darby", who goes through several romances until finally finding the desired stability. The series deals with issues such as lack of affection, sex, love and happiness, starring Anna Kendrick.

7. Feel good

On the other hand, if you don't like classic love dramas, then this Netflix series will captivate you. It tells the story of stand up comedian, "Mae", who goes through a passionate and complicated budding relationship with her girlfriend "George".

Although it will make you laugh out loud at times, this drama delves into addictions, family conflicts and love affairs in an honest and emotional way, starring Mae Martin, Charlotte Ritchie and Lisa Kudrow.

8. Snowpiercer

Based on the French graphic novel "Le Transperceneige" (1982), this gripping series is set in a post-apocalyptic world, whose survivors travel aboard a train that circles the Earth, but can't stop.

This is because the world is uninhabitable and remains frozen in an eternal winter. Drama and suspense ideal for "marathon", as "Snowpiercer" is already in its second season, starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs.

9. The Walking Dead: World Beyond

Also within the post-apocalyptic genre, another series that premiered last year on AMC was the spinoff of "The Walking Dead" franchise. In this case, "The Walking Dead: World Beyond" is set in Nebraska, ten years after the zombie apocalypse began, and focuses on the first generation of teenagers who were left to survive in that ruined world. 10. The Mandalorian

While waiting for the third season, which still has no premiere date on Disney+, enjoy the two seasons of the series starring Chilean actor Pedro Pascal.

It is the first live-action "Star Wars" series and follows a lone gunfighter and bounty hunter hired to retrieve "The Kid". The series is set five years after the events of "Return of the Jedi". Both the first and second seasons have eight episodes each.
