Without breaking completely with the traditional cuts and structures, the bets of the next season will delight especially those modern and risky bride and groom, who are not afraid to wear a pastel color or a narrower trousers.

The brand new groom will steal all eyes and that's why the selection of an elegant, comfortable and tailored suit is essential. If you've already started looking for outfits for your wedding, here you will find the main trends that will mark the coming year.

    1. Functional suits

The bride and groom of 2022 will privilege comfort and that is why wedding suits with clean and unstructured lines will dominate; with few shoulder pads, slightly wide lapels and in more informal fabrics, but not for that reason of lesser quality.

Combinations of wool, silk and linen, for example; wool, corduroy and mohair; or linen, polyester and viscose; and also, more functionality will be sought after and, therefore, strict formal attire, such as tailcoats or morning suits, will be relegated to contemporary tailored suits.

But make no mistake, a linen suit can be just as elegant and stylish, and many couples will still opt for outdoor, intimate and/or more relaxed celebrations due to the pandemic.

    2. Shapes and designs

As for trends in wedding suits, 2022 will see the return of single-breasted jackets with one or two buttons.

The semilevita is a garment that is inspired by the classic frock coat, but it is shorter and without a tail, at the same time it stylizes the figure of the man.

There will also be slim fit trousers, which are those that are fitted in the area of the hips and thighs, ideal for not dealing with the annoying wrinkles. Anyway, the slim fit will coexist in harmony with the regular fit, which are the traditional straight cut trousers.

And when it comes to designs, plaids, stripes, geometric motifs, floral patterns, abstract designs and even paisley print will burst onto the scene. Although plain suits and accessories will not lose their prominence, 2022 offers more options in terms of prints. From trousers and jackets, to shirts, ties and even socks with prints.

    3. Colours

Leaving aside the traditional colors, such as black, gray and navy blue groom's suits, other tones will set the tone in 2022, such as pale pink, beige, light blue and little by little white, all of them ideal for daytime weddings or outdoor locations, such as a garden or the beach.

While brown, burgundy, cobalt blue and moss green will work great for more formal or evening weddings.

This way, the bride and groom will be able to explore a much wider range of colours and combine them freely. In fact, it will no longer be a requirement for the jacket to be the same shade as the trousers for the groom to look sophisticated. For example, you can choose a blazer and waistcoat in burgundy and combine it with a pair of pearl grey trousers. The success will lie in the harmony of the fusion.

    4. Glamorous option

Finally, while the most outrageous outfits will dominate men's bridal fashion in 2022, there will also be room for the glamour-loving bride and groom.

Satin suits, brocade prints in acetate and polyester, tuxedos with matching cummerbunds and ties, and satin or velvet outfits will be in fashion, the latter for those who will get married in the coldest seasons of the year.

Also, and exclusively for evening weddings, monochromatic suits in black or gray, will stand out among the most requested.

Don't delay! If you're three to four months away from walking down the aisle, it's time to start tracking trends and looking for your groom's suit, but regardless of style or fabrics, consider at least one fitting if it's a ready-to-wear suit, or an average of four if you want to have it custom-made.
